From the smiles of Jennifer Lopez and Simon Cowell to the flawless pouts of Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Dr. Michael Apa, the Beverly Hills-based cosmetic dentist, is synonymous with sparkle and shine. His innovative techniques have made him a very popular dentist among many and one busy individual who jets between his offices worldwide. Here is how the dashing dentist manages his daily agenda.
4:30 AM No matter where I am in the world, I wake up between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. local time. My habits and routine help temper the decision-making that must happen day-to-day.
5:30 AM I check my emails. Then, it’s time for my first coffee of the day at home, which I make by mixing freshly brewed coffee with two espresso shots, oat milk, and three Splendas.
6:00 AM I work out with my trainer, Christine, for an hour in my building’s gym. She usually travels to Los Angeles with me because I know my morning workout sets the tone for the day.
7:15 AM I make a smoothie followed by a shower. Then I get dressed for the day, usually in my staple Brunello Cucinelli looks. I always take a mirror selfie and post it on my @doctorapa account before heading out the door.
8:05 AM I head to Apa Aesthetic Beverly Hills with our lead dentist, Dr. Andi-Jean Miro, who also lives in my building. We jump in my gray Ferrari 812 Competizione and hit the local Starbucks on Beverly Drive to pick up our pre-ordered quad espresso over ice with oat milk and three Splendas.
8:30 AM It’s time for new patient FaceTime consultations—something we started during the pandemic and have maintained because 70 percent of our patients live out of state or even out of the country.
8:45 AM I check in with the lab and join the team meeting—a quick 15 minutes for us to come together, review the day’s schedule, and set goals.
9:00 AM My first appointments of the day are hygiene, prep, and insert. The prep appointment, which I call “the first working appointment” in a patient’s smile makeover journey, is when I feel most creative. This is when the smile design really happens—creating something that enhances overall facial aesthetics, with form and function working together cohesively. I love it; it drives me.
11:45 AM Lunch is dropped off, and I hire a local chef in each city. In Los Angeles, I use Emily Shaw because she specializes in food for wellness.
1:00 PM Second prep or insert of the day. Every Apa office has an in-house lab with the best technicians, so seeing the way they transform my design into wearable art never gets old.
3:30 PM On a typical Wednesday or Thursday, our local videographer comes to the office to film content for our social channels. The vibe of the day often dictates the content, and I speak from the heart, addressing real-time experiences, patients, business matters, etc.
6:00 PM I blow off steam by hitting with a tennis pro or coach for an hour. I’m just going to say it—I have a mean tennis game.
7:30 PM I head to dinner at E. Baldi, Funke, or Catch, and then come home to play with my Corgi, Brady, who was a gift from my New York Apa office! Can you imagine? My team gave me a dog.
9:00 PM I unwind by catching up on sports or watching a docuseries and get ready to do it all over again the next day!
