With a contemporary eye and due reverence to subtlety, L.A.-based design and development team Ome Dezin is having a proverbial moment. With Joëlle Kütner and Jesse Rudolph at the helm, Ome Dezin’s portfolio features dwellings hallmarked by nuance and impact. A peek at their inspirations reveals a love of travel, art and some very leafy-looking plants.
“TRAVEL IS SO IMPORTANT TO US! We have traveled to many places together and gathered inspiration wherever we go. Some of our top trips have been to Mexico City, Paris, Barcelona, Lisbon, Porto and Milan. We try to immerse ourselves in the local cultures and gain a strong sense of the community, which deeply resonates with our values and interests in how people live their lives.”
“WE LOVE TO LOOK AT ART, we are inspired by it and we incorporate art into our designs and lives. Most recently we have been pulling from Brâncuși with his sculptures that we saw on display at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Mixing metal, marble, and wood together is a stable of our design work.”
“WE BELIEVE THAT LIGHTING TRULY BRINGS A ROOM TOGETHER and are constantly thinking about how we can incorporate the perfect sconce, pendant or floor lamp into any space. One of our favorites is the Perriand sconce by Charlotte Perriand, one of the most influential lighting designers of the 20th century!”
“PLANTS INSPIRE US! Kalanchoe beharensis ‘Blue Slick’ is one that we use often for its architectural shape and resiliency. We like to incorporate plants throughout our design because they feel like living sculptures.”
