Celebrate California’s bounty with these seasonal events.

ALL ABOUT LOVE

Be sure to check out All About Love, the first major international tour of the art of Mickalene Thomas, who is known for complex works using rhinestones, acrylic, and enamel. With mixed-media paintings and collages, installations and photography, Thomas showcases a contemporary vision of female sexuality, beauty, race, and power-centering queer identity. The event is co-organized by London’s Hayward Gallery and LA’s The Broad, in partnership with the Barnes Foundation of Philadelphia.“While pushing conventional boundaries of technique and material, Thomas touches all aspects of culture and society, from notions of beauty to sexuality and politics, powerfully bringing visibility to those who have historically been excluded and marginalized in art history,” explains Joanne Heyler, the Founding Director of The Broad. The show runs through September 29. thebroad.org.
